Ozark is located just minutes south of Springfield with a more rural feel than its Christian County counterpart in Nixa.  Ozark offers many large parks and a great community center called the OC featuring state of the art workout facilities and indoor pools, and public schools consistently outranking the state average receiving the Bronze award by US New and World Reports.  With all Ozark has to offer it is easy to see why its population has increased by 419% in the last 20 years.

Ozark is located in Christian county Missouri, and is the county seat. The city of Ozark incorporated in 1890. The population in the 2010 census was 17,820. Ozark is part of the Springfield Missouri Metropolitan Area. Christian county is the fastest growing county in the state of Missouri.

Due to the explosive growth in Ozark housing varies from homes in subdivisions with modern amenities to small working farms to everything in between.  Many neighborhoods offer traditional small town charm, while others offer great scenic views.  With all the new housing there has been a lot of new commercial development to support these new residence, allowing for local shopping and dinning.

Ozark has also revitalized its downtown district, including modern lofts, shops and local restaurants.  Every Wednesday, April through October, downtown Ozark hosts a farmers market with live music and over 30 vendors.  This is you weekly opportunity to buy locally grown farm fresh food and check out local shops and restaurants.

The OC is a 3,739sf facility featuring a complete free weight area, state of the art weight machines, cardio equipment, fitness classes, and indoor walking/running track, and a full gymnasium.  The aquatics center features 4 lane lap pool, 124ft water slide, vortex pool, and children’s play area.  When the Finley River Park’s baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds are full you can walk the paved trails or fish from on of the three docks.  These Ozark parks facilities are a wonderful asset for the local residents.

Other Ozark attractions include Smallin Cave where visitors can take a variety of tours including a 1 hour, 2 hour, off the beaten path, or even a Civil War themed tour.  Busiek State Park is just a 10 minute drive and features 20 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding.  Busiek also has a unmanned firing range.  Ozark hosts a 3 day Ozark Arts and Crafts Fair each October, and the booster club has a rodeo each July.  The Sertoma Duck Race is in June and benefits area underprivileged children.  A short drive to the west is Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, a national park and museum to preserve the site of the historic civil war battle.

Ozark also is conveniently located to several other local area attraction.  Ozark is just a 30 minute drive to Branson and Table Rock Lake.  Branson offers a variety of shows featuring music, comedy, and family entertainment.  Branson also offer lots of shopping at one of several outlet malls as well as the Branson Landing.  After a full day of shopping and shows there are many restaurants to choose from.  Table Rock Lake is the largest lake in SW Missouri, with lots of boating, fishing, swimming, and camping options.  There are also several fine resorts with numerous golf courses located at or around the lake.
